Ellora & Ajanta Caves

The Ellora and Ajanta caves are a short drive from the city of Aurangabad. These two groups of caves are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The earliest caves belong to the Hinayana phase of Buddhism and date from between the 2nd and 1st centuries B.C.. The caves also include ones which were excavated by Hindu's and still others which were excavated by Jain's. A wonderful place to get grounded on our arrival in India.

Dubare Elephant Camp

At the Dubare Elephant Camp, visitors meet with mahuts and elephants and learn about the ancient relationship between human beings and these amazing animals. We have an opportunity to wash the elephants in the river, go on an elephant safari, and go on nature walks with their naturalist. A wonderful place to debrief and unwind.

Goa Beaches

The Goa Beaches stretch for miles along the Arabian Sea. Just a few minutes from the seminary at Pilar we find secluded beaches peppered with fishing villages.

Gandhi Ashram, Nagpur

The Gandhi Ashram at Wardha, (a short drive from Napur), is now a national institution. Established by Gandhi in 1933, Sevagram (Village of Service) was based on Gandhi's philosophy of rural economic development. It became the headquarters of India's National Movement. A sign by the prayer grounds reads: "This is the place where Bapu used to hold prayers in the evenings and shared his thoughts with those present. Bapu said, 'It should be a spacious ground under sky available to the poorest of the poor.'"
