2009-2010 Courses: Spirituality & Global Awareness: India This course takes place in both Canada and India. The overarching goal is to deepen students knowledge of themselves and their place in the contemporary world through interaction with our partners in India and through critical reflection upon theological, historical, cultural, and psychological factors which have shaped self, religious beliefs and practices, and our world. In 2009-2010 this course will be offered in Peterborough Ontario and Ottawa Ontario Course Goals: a) Reflect theologically about the contemporary global situation. b) Examine effects of historical colonization and contemporary globalization on the lives of people in India. c) Explore variety of expressions of inculturation in Indian Christian practice and reflect on possibilities for inculturation in Canadian religious Context. d) Contemplate emerging Eastern and Western liberation theologies. e) Examine relationships between spiritual development and social justice and global awareness. f) Increase self awareness and capacity for compassion through engaging in the contemplative practices of mindfulness meditation and tonglin.
2009-2010 Courses 1: out of Ottawa Pre-trip classes: August 14-16, September 11-13 Travel & Study in India: October 2-24 Post-trip class: November 27-29 Travel & Study Highlights: Taj Mahal, Ghats at Varanasi, Ghandi Ashram, Christian and Muslim slums, craft program with dalit children, elephant camp, Registration now open: to register follow link to registration, complete form and send with deposit. Registration deposit: $2,000.00 - less $500.00 for registrations received before May 15th First Installment: $1,975.00 due August 14 Final Payment: $1,500.00 due September 11 2: out of Peterborough Late March early April 2010- celebrate Holi in India Details to be announced Tuition (for all courses): $5,475.00 Cost includes: tuition, visas, basic flight cancelation insurance, program supplies, air fares course home city-India return, ground transportation Peterborough/Toronto return for Peterborough class, all in country: flights, ground transportation, accommodation, meals and entrance fees.
