Liberation Theology East and West: A Worship Service

We have designed a complete worship service that will introduce your congregation to Liberation Theology and some of its implications East and West. There are several weekends throughout the year when one of our staff is available to lead your congregation in this worship service.

The liturgy for this service follows the order of APPROACH, SERVICE OF THE WORD, SERVICE OF THE TABLE (optional), RESPONSE, SENDING FORTH. Also within the service is the possibility for four placements of hymns, and for up to 3 anthems plus introit. We provide up to four possible choices for each hymn and suggestions for anthems and introit. Included in the service is an introduction to the contemplative practice of tonglin- a meditation practice that works with opening ones heart. Readings include excerpts from Leo Tolstoy, Mother Teresa, Dorothea Soellee, John Cobb Jr, Jose Cardenas Pallares and Gustavo Gutierrez.

We do not charge for providing worship leadership. A donation to support the work of the Institute will always be thankfully received. At the current time, if requesting worship leadership at a location outside of Winnipeg, Peterborough or Ottawa or for a date not listed below, we will request the congregation cover cost of transportation.

Key Benefits

  • Introduce your congregation to theological reflection on international issues
  • Experience liturgical elements arising from worship in communities in developing world
  • Ideal for pulpit supply
